The City of Santa Fe (N.M.) Environmental Services Division will incorporate the cloud-based Rubicon waste solutions technology in its fleet of refuse trucks. The technology will provide the city with planning data, most notably by enabling real-time information on current landfill diversion and recycling rates.

Through the pilot program, smartphones loaded with the Rubicon hauler mobile app will be placed in the city’s 40 residential and commercial waste and recycling vehicles. The Environmental Services Division will also use Rubicon’s desktop vendor portal which works with the mobile app to create operational efficiency, improve customer service, and ultimately lead to cost savings.

The data will help the city understand how to better focus its recycling education efforts, measure the carbon avoidance from recycling activities and determine vehicle emission reduction targets in the city’s waste fleet through route optimization, and other features.

Rubicon is a cloud-based waste and recycling company focused on sustainability. It works with customers to find inefficiencies and cost-savings in their waste streams and to develop new and innovative ways to reduce, re-use, and recycle waste.
