Update: The summit has been postponed until further notice. The pre-summit afternoon seminar with Kathy Merrill will continue as scheduled.
Attendees to the Dallas-Fort Worth Public Fleet Summit, produced by Government Fleet and GST, on May 7-8 will have the benefit of two tracks to choose from — one for new and aspiring public works fleet managers and the other for those with more experience.
For fleet managers who are unable to come to both days of the event, a single day pass will allow them to get the training they need, specific to their needs. It will also allow organizations to further their succession planning goals.
Public Fleet Summit organizers have also announced an additional opportunity for attendees to learn about Lean/6 Sigma for their operations. Kathy Merrill of Agilency will lead a pre-summit afternoon seminar the day before the summit that will feature examples of Lean/6 Sigma in government operations and a description of the tools and techniques needed to apply Lean/6 Sigma in a fleet operation.
For the two-day summit, speakers include some of the most recognized names in the industry. Session topics include: government accounting and budgeting, fuel and inventory control, moving from the shop floor to management, how to use fleet management systems to your advantage, calculating labor rates, and the benefits of writing a business plan.
Public Fleet Summits, which take place around the country, address the need for high-quality professional fleet training while recognizing that budget restrictions are making travel difficult for many. Each year, the group conducts six events around the country; the inaugural Public Fleet Summit took place in the Northwest.
