Exmark says its new Adapt cutting deck adjustment system on select 2023 Lazer Z X Series zeroturn mowers allows quick deck rake adjustments to achieve the best cut quality.

For 2023, Exmark will offer Adapt on select Lazer Z X-Series zero-turn mower models equipped with the UltraCut Series 6 side discharge cutting deck, including 52- , 60- , and 72-inch models.

The company released the Adapt system while noting that deck adjustment is a top factor in achieving an optimal cut quality in different cutting conditions. In introducing the product, Exmark stated that small adjustments to deck pitch, or rake, can make a strong difference in finished cut quality and mower efficiency.

With Adapt, the operator can make quick deck rake adjustments from the operator seat, without tools.

More on Rake Adjustment

Exmark product manager Jonathan Guarneri said the company has always worked to improve its mowers’ quality of cut. The company a couple years ago was working on a project out in the field to develop a method to quickly adjust the rake of the deck without using tools or put it on a lift. An Exmark engineer came up with a system to do that.

“This was essentially to help improve our quality of cut testing processes so we wouldn't have to go cut with the machine, take it back to the shop, make adjustments and then go cut with it again,” Guarneri said. “We wanted to be able to do all of this out in the grass area where we were cutting.”

Adapt enables positive and negative deck rake adjustment, which allows optimal operation for Exmark’s UltraCut Series 6 cutting deck in a wider range of conditions. Adapt works for side discharge, mulching and bagging.
