The Hornell City Police Department in NY has switched to a vehicle leasing program to help update its fleet, according to The Evening Tribune.

The city targeted the leasing program to reduce maintenance costs and downtime during repairs, which were crippling the department’s fleet in the past. The program has allowed the department to deploy two new Dodge Durangos, with a third soon to come.

Police Chief Ted Murray said the department will assign one of the new vehciles to each shift to help limit the amount of miles and wear on the vehicles. They will supplement this with the other vehicles already in the fleet.
