Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) announced grants of $360,000 to seven Connecticut municipalities that will use the funds to replace older diesel trucks with new vehicles that burn fuel cleaner and more efficiently.
HARTFORD, CT – Two of those projects are for the purchase of alternative-fuel vehicles and fueling infrastructure, specifically projects in the cities of Norwich and Plymouth.
WATERBURY, CT - The State of Connecticut’s Department of Children and Families will be piloting GPS on eight to 10 of its fleet vehicles. Sprint, the vendor on the state contract, will provide the GPS services.
STAMFORD, CT – The City of Stamford is looking at higher gasoline and diesel prices for its fleet of 400 vehicles when a new fuel contract goes into effect on July 1.
NEW HAVEN, CT – The City of New Haven unveiled its first hybrid refuse truck. The City said this new vehicle will use 30-percent less fuel than non-hybrid trucks in the fleet.
