The American Public Works Association's (APWA) Public Works Expo (PWX) took place August 28-31 in Minneapolis, Minn. Here's a peek at the vehicles on the show floor.


More fleets reported an increase in their fleet sizes this year in comparison to 2013 survey results. Increases in servie areas or programs have resulted in larger fleets for some, while right-sizing and selling off underutilized vehicles have resulted in fleet reduction for others. Municipal Maintenance Equipment, a California-based company, is a dealership selling equipment that includes Schwarze sweepers, Vac Con sewer and storm drain cleaners, Go4 parking enforcement vehicles, Schwarze road patchers, Tarco material handlers, and Spaulding paving equipment. Tray Hall, territory sales manager, gave Government Fleet a tour of one of the company's facilities in Placentia, Calif., and some of the vehicles in the shop.


The ConExpo-Con/Agg convention, held every three years, was in Las Vegas on March 4-8, 2014. The event brought out more than 2,000 vendors this year and more than 120,000 resgisterations in total. This was the second-highest attendance in the event's history. From Aug. 26 through Aug. 29, public works professionals gathered at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, Calif. for the 75th annual International Public Works Congress & Exposition, hosted by the American Public Works Association (APWA). Attendees were given the opportunity to get acquainted with the latest innovations through educational seminars on technology, applications, leadership, sustainability, and infrastructure management.
