Utah State University Will Buy Small Vans and Buses for its Fleet
SALT LAKE CITY – Utah State University (USU) will replace all of its 12- and 15-passenger vans with small buses and minivans. The decision comes after losing eight students and their in-structor in a van rollover.
SALT LAKE CITY – Utah State University (USU) will replace all of its 12- and 15-passenger vans with small buses and minivans. The decision comes after losing eight students and their instructor in a van rollover, according to the Salt Lake Tribune newspaper. USU also changed its vehicle travel policy to require that passengers be carried mostly in minivans or 15-passenger buses that have two axles in back and a wider wheelbase. Traveling athletic teams and other groups could use large vans with permission from a dean, vice president, or athletic director when there is no other option, such as at an airport. However, no more than nine people can ride in the van. Also, USU students and staff can still ride hotel shuttles that are large vans.
