Segway Inc. has introduced the SE-3 Patroller, a three-wheel battery-electric stand-up vehicle designed for law enforcement.
The SE-3 Patroller is a larger vehicle than its two-wheeled personal transport vehicles for agencies looking to show a more visible security and community relations presence, according to the company. Riders don't need to constantly mount and dismount the vehicle.
The SE-3 Patroller is powered by several rechargeable lithium-ion batteries that can be charged at any standard electrical outlet or swapped out for replacement batteries.
This new three-wheel product features independent direct rear-wheel drive, can travel in reverse, and turns in a tight radius. It also includes rugged Whelen emergency lighting, headlight, brake light, siren and lockable storage.
The SE-3 Patroller is also equipped with a 4.3-inch color display that is sunlight-readable. It provides the rider with operational data including speed, battery life and distance travelled. The SE-3 Patroller will retail starting at $11,999.
