Proposal to Accelerate Dallas PD Fleet Replacement
DALLAS, TX - The Dallas Police Department should shorten its fleet lifecycle from five to four years, according to interim City Manager Mary Suhm, reported The Dallas Morning News.
DALLAS, TX - The Dallas Police Department should shorten its fleet lifecycle from five to four years, according to interim City Manager Mary Suhm, reported The Dallas Morning News. Suhm said she would ask the city council to approve the purchase of 38 new marked squad cars. This would be in addition to the 140 vehicles already included in this year´s budget. The Dallas Morning News reported that on any given day, more than one in five patrol cars are out of commission because it´s broken down or too worn out. Funding for the additional vehicles would come from money saved from police equipment notes. These notes are used to sell debt that funds police vehicle purchases.
