PEEKSKILL, NY – The Peekskill Common Council is considering a new city vehicle use policy that could save taxpayers $100,000. There are 22 city vehicles in use. Four are designated for police undercover operations, and three are for fire department leadership.
With the exception of those seven vehicles, the council is proposing that 10 cars be eliminated completely from the city’s fleet and an additional five be restricted for in-city use only. Those 10 cars to be cut are used by the finance, planning, parks, public works, water, and police departments, according to www.midhudsonnews.com.
