Nashville Bans Personal Use of Vehicles
NASHVILLE - The ban on personal use also sets geographic boundaries for use of metropolitan government-owned vehicles.
NASHVILLE – The Nashville metro council, whose jurisdiction includes Nashville and Davidson County, voted to enact an ordinance banning personal use of City vehicles save for incidental purposes, according to council records. Employees can’t transport anyone who is not a metropolitan government employee.
The ban includes traveling outside the geographic jurisdiction of the metropolitan government without proper approvals and specific prohibitions on driving while intoxicated and transporting drugs or alcohol (unless being used in a law-enforcement investigation). The ordinance also gives the Metropolitan Department of General Services, Office of Fleet Management, the authority to adopt additional rules related to enforcing this policy.
