The City of Lockport, N.Y., will sell off its two ambulances and reduce fire department staffing, while handing over ambulance service to a private company in a cost-cutting move.
The cash-strapped city will hand off rescue calls to a private company starting Sept. 15. The private company has not been selected, reports the Buffalo News.
With the move, the city will now no longer need to purchase two new ambulances next year for about $300,000.
