The Washington County (Minn.) Sheriff’s Office has transformed one of its squad cars from its standard brown logo to a suicide awareness theme. The specially marked squad car displays the Sheriff’s logo in teal and purple colors, representing suicide awareness. It also displays the suicide hotline number as well as the website suicidepreventionlifeline.org.
September is Suicide Awareness Month. The department has responded to 163 suicide-related calls this year alone, according to KSTP.
The project was a collaborative effort between the Sheriff’s Office, Washington County Public Health and Environment, and National Alliance on Mental Illness to raise awareness of suicide and prevention options, according to the Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page. The graphics were donated.
