LSU AgCenter Adopts Fleet Management and Motor Pool Software System
BATON ROUGE, LA - The system will automate management of LSU AgCenter’s 22-vehicle fleet, simplifying the reservation process for the pool vehicles and making it easier to collect utilization data.
BATON ROUGE, LA - The Agricultural Center at Louisiana State University (LSU AgCenter) has adopted a new fleet management and motor pool system. The system will automate management of LSU AgCenter’s 22-vehicle fleet, simplifying the reservation process for the pool vehicles and making it easier to collect utilization data. This university organization handles approximately 1,000 vehicle reservations each year.
LSU AgCenter is using Agile Access Control’s FleetCommander system, which will save approximately 250 hours of staff time, according to LSU AgCenter Fleet Coordinator Jodi Davis. Previously, AgCenter staff made and modified reservations and dispatching manually using paper and clipboards.
“FleetCommander's rigorous data collection capability allows us to generate the utilization reports that take the guesswork out of deciding how many vehicles we actually need,” Davis said. “As FleetCommander collects more data in the coming months, it may give LSU AgCenter the opportunity to reduce the number of vehicles in its fleet. Eliminating the extra costs associated with keeping those vehicles in our fleet will save us a lot of money.”
The software will help ensure the pool vehicles are used for business purposes and collect accurate data required by State auditors.
"In the past we had a difficult time consistently collecting the information we needed to report to the state, including the purpose of each trip and destination,” Davis said. “FleetCommander automatically collects this information during the online reservation process. Gathering information to generate these reports would take hours; now it's automatic.”
LSU AcCenter is also considering implementing Agile’s FleetCommander unstaffed key control kiosk and keybox system.
