Las Vegas, Nev. – The Las Vegas Valley Water District’s (LVVWD) Fleet Services Division has successfully completed the Rocky Mountain Fleet Management Association’s (RMFMA) Fleet Certification program and is now a certified Industry Competitive Fleet Management Operation.
The LVVWD Fleet Services Division’s three-month certification testing resulted in a score of 94 percent—to receive the certification, a fleet operation must score at least 76 percent. Only nine fleets in the U.S. have passed the RMFMA’s Fleet Certification program; however, the LVVWD is the only fleet in Nevada to qualify for this certification.
The RMFMA, of which the LVVWD is a member, is an educational association that strives to enhance the practice of fleet management for public and private organizations. Fleet Counselor Services, Inc. (FCS) specializes in fleet operations, sponsoring the RMFMA and developing the criteria for the certification. “It is our goal to make government operations cost effective. That is why we developed and offer the Certification Program—to save the taxpayers and ratepayers money,” said James Wright, FCS president and founder.
“Earning this certification demonstrates the LVVWD’s commitment to utilize progressive techniques and technologies in our fleet operations, which enables us to serve the public more efficiently,” said James Morwood, LVVWD fleet service manager. The LVVWD Fleet Services Division has implemented the following cost-effective programs, allowing the division to earn high marks during the certification testing:
Vehicle Replacement Program
Highly Efficient Parts Management Operation
Disaster Management Program
Fleet Utilization Program (to manage the fleet size)
ASE Blue Seal Shop Certification
As FCS develops new performance standards, the LVVWD must continue to pass this testing every two years to maintain certification as a cost-competitive and efficient operation. The LVVWD Fleet Service Division manages more than 600 autos and heavy trucks and more than 600 pieces of construction equipment for the LVVWD and the Southern Nevada Water Authority.
