LAS VEGAS — A Las Vegas city audit of 1,247 vehicles found that the city owns about 30 vehicles more than it needs. Disposing of them could save about $700,000, according to the Las Vegas Sun newspaper. The audit pointed out that some city vehicles received little use, and that 25 vehicles averaged less than 2,000 miles per year, including four that averaged less than 570 miles annually. The city may overuse other vehicles — 15 averaged more than 20,000 miles per year. The audit also called for the creation of a vehicle advisory committee to oversee the replacement program and take a closer look at the less-used vehicles, according to the Las Vegas Sun. The city Audit Oversight Committee will review the audit this week.
