At a recent meeting, Dawson County, Ga., Board of Commissioners voted to revise its take-home vehicle policy for county employees and re-evaluate who needs a take-home vehicle, reports DawsonNews.com.
Currently, the county assigns fleet vehicles to employees who frequently respond to after-hours and weekend emergency calls. Employees must submit documentation to justify a take-home vehicle, and receive approval from the county manager. Sixteen county employees from various departments have been assigned vehicles. Annually, these vehicles cost the county $30,137, not including county business mileage.
The revised policy clarifies the way employees are given approval, specifying that verbal contracts and special conditions will not be honored or accepted. With the adoption of this new policy, the county manager will determine which positions would retain their assigned vehicles.
