MANNINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ – Four municipalities were presented with a new emergency vehicle from the Salem County Board of Chosen Freeholders, the Office of Emergency Management, and the Prosecutor's Office, according to www.nj.com. Funded by the Homeland Security Grant, four 2005 Dodge Durango trucks were purchased for Carneys Point, Lower Alloways Creek, Pennsville, and Salem City as additional resources for protection against terrorist threats. The vehicles will equip the municipalities with the resources needed to respond to emergency situations, stated Freeholder Director Chuck Sullivan. The emergency vehicles were purchased with $100,000 of the Homeland Security Grant. The county was awarded $1 million with the original grant. Local police departments were also provided with other equipment, including gas detectors, personal protective equipment and laptop computers.
