WALTHAM, MA – Extech Data Systems, a developer of portable printers for enterprise-wide applications, announces its new portable three-inch battery-operated receipt printers for parking enforcement. When paired with mobile computers, Extech’s three-inch printers streamline and speed up basic functions like ticketing.

The Municipal Traffic Department in Roermond Council, Netherlands, utilizes the Sigmax HP iPAQ PDAs and Extech’s portable printers to modernize and automate its method of issuing penalties. The new system is easy to handle and significantly increases the amount of time traffic wardens can spend away from their desks.

Prior to this solution, wardens had carried both ticket books and regulation booklets, with which they issued penalties for parking and other offenses. The offender was given the fine or notification and a copy was taken back to the office, where all data was transferred to a list, checked, and finally typed into the central system. The total processing of the fines was a huge administrative task and absorbed a large percentage of work time.

Sigmax PDAs and Extech portable printers provide the flexible, lightweight solution that Roermond Council needs. The system allows the traffic warden to enter the details of each violation into the PDA, print the ticket, and then later synchronize the PDA with the computer at the central office.

When paired with mobile computers, Extech’s three-inch printers increase efficiency, streamline, and speed up basic functions, and save millions of dollars. The printers provide multiple interface options, making them a model of flexibility and well able to withstand the rigors of mobile computing.

All necessary information is stored in the PDA, so the wardens no longer make mistakes in issuing penalties, and all administrative work is complete as soon as the penalty is issued. When using the Extech printer, the wardens are confident that the penalty they have issued is readable to everyone.
