The Electrical Training Institute in Commerce, Calif., hosted the MEMA meeting on Sept. 15, 2011.

COMMERCE, CA - A Sept. 15 meeting of the Municipal Equipment Maintenance Assocation (MEMA) focused on electrification, with presenters speaking about grant funding, charging infrastructure, and EV readiness. It was hosted by the Electrical Training Institute.

Ted Abeyta of Total Projex Project Management Services gave a presentation on the basics of charging infrastructure. Charlotte Whitney of Stregic Solutions talked to MEMA attendees about stratgic plans to obtain grant funding. Don Davis, executive director of the Electrical Training Institute (ETI), discussed programs the ETI has for training electricians. Glenn Pincus of Southern California Edison spoke about the company's PEV readiness program and its efforts to prepare the utility for the arrival of PEVs. Len Fein, business operations manager, southwest region, for Clipper Creek explained the different types of chargers available and gave a demonstration of charger use.

CODA's all-electric sedan and the Nissan LEAF were available on-site for the charging demonstration.

The meeting also included a summary of MEMA business. MEMA now has a video of the the 100 Best meeting hosted by the City of Santa Ana, Calif., online. For more information on MEMA, click here.
