WASHINGTON - The District of Columbia Water & Sewer Authority (DC Water) recently contracted with Chevin Fleet Solutions as its fleet management software provider, according to a release from the company.

DC Water provides comprehensive wastewater treatment and quality drinking water to multiple counties in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. DC Water's wide-ranging suite of services includes drinking water, treated water storage, wastewater treatment, and sewer system services. It supports these offerings with a fleet of more than 2,000 pieces of equipment spread across the District of Columbia.

Utilizing Chevin's FleetWave, DC Water can link each of its facilities together, allowing the utility provider to share resources, reduce on-hand parts inventories, and improve maintenance practices and compliance of the inspections and certifications required for its diverse fleet, the release stated. With integration to the utilities enterprise financial system as well as external maintenance providers and fuel management system, FleetWave will dramatically streamline labor and paper intensive processes. Additionally, DC Water will be able to enhance its management and oversight of statutory and safety related tasks with FleetWave's support of auto-generated email notification of pending, due, and past due PMs and safety inspections.

With extensive fleet management requirements from complete asset and life cycle management, workshop, inventory, purchasing, warranty and campaign management, driver management as well as accident and risk management, DC Water's fleet management team will be able to manage the diverse fleet using information rather than instinct, enhancing fleet oversight and leading to potential savings.

With deployment over DC Water's intranet, the fleet management team will now be able to access FleetWave from anywhere at any time, providing real-time reporting and query capabilities and presenting remote and casual users with information regarding fleet conditions, scheduled maintenance, and compliance statistics, according to the release.
