The City of Boise, Idaho, fleet department has increased its collision repair budget by 80% since November, after a steep increase in collisions involving city fleet vehicles, reports Boise Weekly.
Boise Fleet Services asked for a $65,000 change order in November to an existing $100,000 contract with a local body shop, and a $15,000 increase on Feb. 2. Boise Purchasing Manager Colin Millar said there have been "unforeseen vehicle collision incidents." The City Council approved both requests.
Earlier this year, the Boise Fleet Services unit was named the No. 1 fleet among the Leading Fleets at the Government Fleet Expo and Conference (GFX) in Denver. The operation was chosen the overall No. 1 fleet for showing leadership in various situations, including within the staff, with customers and within the community; staying efficient and competitive; overcoming challenges; and having a vision and direction for the fleet.
