PLAINFIELD, CT – City police are investigating a second shooting, according to the Hartford Courier News. Capt. Steve Soltys said a 38-year-old male Plainfield Municipal Utilities Authority employee was shot once in the back as he was riding on the back of a City garbage truck traveling eastbound on South Second Street at about 1:10 p.m.
Police said the shooting happened near Monroe Avenue and South Second Street. The victim was taken to Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center. His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
The shooting happened a day after a 20-year-old city man was shot in the shoulder at about noon as he was riding a bicycle in the 300 block of Prescott Place. The man, who also was not identified, was taken to Muhlenberg with what police said was a “grazed” shoulder. He was expected to be treated and released.
Both shooting locations are about three blocks apart.
When asked if the same person might be responsible for both shootings, or if the shootings are somehow linked, Soltys said both cases remain under investigation and that no arrests have been made, according to the Hartford Courier News.
