The Carbon Motors E7 prototype, and one-time "patrol car of the future," sold Thursday to an online buyer at an Indiana auction for $74,000.
An online bidder from Wisconsin placed the winning bid for the vehicle and some marketing materials that reached $87,320 including the commission for Key Auctioneers, reports the Indianapolis Star.
When sold, the vehicle was dressed in red and white colors with Arabic vinyl letters because it was last shown in Dubai. Proceeds of the sale will go toward the bankruptcy of Carbon Motors, which shut down its Connorsville, Ind., plant in May.
The prototype vehicle included a BMW diesel drivetrain with a custom eight-speed transmission, aluminum body, coach doors, ballistic panels, and several other police-specific features. Read more details on the Key Auctioneers website.
