KANSAS CITY, MO – The American Public Works Association (APWA) has launched a new version of APWA WorkZone (http://www.apwa.net/workzone), a comprehensive public works employment site. The site now features enhanced tools for job seekers and employers, as well as free postings of internships in the public works field.
“Our new and improved Web-based system is the ultimate resource for a wide variety of public works, engineering, and infrastructure-related jobs in North America,” said APWA Executive Director Peter King. “We have made the work of recruiting and job hunting much more efficient for both job seekers and employers. As the workforce becomes more competitive, APWA is delivering challenging career positions and useful tools to industry professionals.”
Officially launched in June 2006, WorkZone is an online employment recruiting and search tool. With postings from public works agencies, consulting firms, and other companies throughout North America, WorkZone has already connected job seekers and employers with more than 2,300 jobs. Membership in APWA is not a requirement to access the services.
For job seekers, the site features free, targeted searches by keyword, job titles, and locations. A new mapping tool powered by Google simplifies the hunt by displaying geographic locations of postings. New subscription options deliver the latest job postings by e-mail and include tips and information to enhance career marketability.
Employers will benefit from self-service, instant posting, access to the most qualified candidates, and simplified pricing. APWA WorkZone now offers free internship posting to provide employers with a recruitment vehicle and give students access to a new public works career path. The site will also accept payment through purchase orders from local, state/provincial, or federal agencies.
