ALBANY, GA – The City of Albany is facing close to a $2 million increase in fuel costs, according to an article in the Albany Herald. The Albany City Commission "tentatively" voted to give Jim Hinton Oil Co. a contract for $3.4 million for E-10 blended gasoline and two kinds of diesel. In the previous fiscal year, fuel costs were $1.6 million.
Although the increased fuel cost reflects the higher price of fuel, the City’s Director of Central Services Stephen Collier said this contract has a cost ceiling based on a discounted fuel price of $3 per gallon.
