TIPPECANOE COUNTY, IN – Tippecanoe Emergency Ambulance Service is seeking county funding for five new ambulances to help the fleet keep up with demands of the growing community. Ambulance calls have increased by 10 percent annually since 2000, and four trucks in the county fleet will each have more than 150,000 miles by 2009, according to www.journalandcourier.com.

However, county council members are questioning why the taxpayers, and not the hospitals, should foot the bill for the ambulances.
