CINCINNATI, OH – Approximately 20 percent of downtown Cincinnati’s workforce commutes on buses fueled by biodiesel blends, according to Metro, a fixed-route bus service in southwest Ohio. While the use of biodiesel is typically tied with environmental friendliness, it’s also saving Metro some money, according to Biodiesel Magazine.

Metro Chief Communications Officer Sallie Hilvers told that the use of biodiesel blends saved Metro approximately $450,000 in 2006 when compared to straight petroleum diesel fuel.
