DECATUR, AL – The Decatur, Ala., City Council is set to vote on a resolution to buy 20 Ford Interceptor police cars at its next council meeting. The vehicles cost $447,212 at a local Ford dealership. According to the Decatur Daily newspaper, since many of the City’s police vehicles have been in service for seven or eight years, several council members have said that fleet replacement is a possible long-term solution. The report said that one police officer’s vehicle recently broke down during a severe thunderstorm.
