As vehicle production facilities have shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, fleet agencies may be concerned about delays in receiving the vehicles they’ve ordered. Law enforcement agencies, working full-time during the crisis, may be especially concerned. Here’s what the Detroit OEMs have to say about production delays and deliveries.
FCA:
“FCA law enforcement vehicles are subject to the same delays similar to our production vehicles. FCA is hoping to resume production activities at North American plants by mid-May, but only after all possible worker safety protocols have been implemented.
“2020-MY cutoff dates and 2021-MY order dates will be adjusted accordingly. These dates will be determined on a plant-by plant-basis, and will be announced once the plant production re-start dates are finalized.”
Ford:
“We’ll have more details to share on production timing of all vehicles once we have safely brought our factories and facilities back online.”
General Motors:
“Our Chevrolet Tahoe police vehicle production has not been affected by COVID-19. We are working with customers to make outstanding deliveries according to their preferences, as some are short-staffed or have enacted policies to reduce their exposure.”
