Government Fleet magazine has announced the Leading Fleets for 2019. The awards program, sponsored by Ford and Geotab, recognizes operations that are performing at a high level, particularly in fleet leadership, competitiveness and efficiency, planning for the future, and overcoming challenges.

The 50 Leading Fleets represent the best in the industry. Government Fleet will announce rankings for the top 20 fleets as well as the top fleets in size categories: No. 1 small fleet (499 or fewer assets), No. 1 mid-size fleet (500-999 assets), and No. 1 large fleet (1,000 or more assets) at GFX.

Criteria for the award include:

  • The efficiency, effectiveness, and modernity of the fleet operation, based on 20 key criteria.

  • How the operation prioritizes and exhibits leadership within its team, with customers, within its local community, and within the overall fleet community.

  • How the operation ensures competitiveness and efficiency.

  • The future vision of the operation and leadership steps taken to get there.

  • How the operation addresses and overcomes its biggest challenges.

The Leading Fleets and Notable Fleets will be recognized at GFX during The Honors Celebration, with certificates and plaques, and with a group photo to be published in the awards issue of Government Fleet magazine. Public Fleet Hall of Fame inductees and the Public Sector Fleet Manager of the Year will also be honored at the awards ceremony.

We thank the judges for this year’s award: Craig Croner, CPFP, administrative services manager, City of Boise, Idaho; Brian Franklin, CPFP, administrative manager for the City of Tulsa, Okla.; Sam Lamerato, CPFP, retired fleet superintendent, City of Troy, Mich.; and Kelly Reagan, fleet administrator, City of Columbus, Ohio.
