Midland County, Mich., is installing green lights on its maintenance vehicles to improve visibility. All new and old equipment will be fitted with the green lights, including snow plows, in addition to the existing amber lights, the Midland County Road Commission announced.

The county chose green lights because they appear brighter than other color lights and can be seen farther away in inclement conditions. A September 2016 survey of Michigan's county road agencies found that more than 70% of agencies will implement green lights on art of their fleet this year.
