Mecklenburg County in North Carolina will be deploying GPS tracking devices across 1,100 assets. The devices will be used to track, monitor, and manage the county's fleet of service vehicles and non-motorized assets. County employees chose CalAmp's wireless devices and FleetOutlook fleet tracking solution after a competitive review process, according to the company.

The five-year contract calls for a county-wide deployment of the tracking system and report management solution. The combined services will be used for the county's mixed fleet, which includes sheriff's office sedans, heavy- and light-duty trucks, cargo and service vans, trailers, and off-road equipment.

County fleet employees can access a Web-based management program to view information such as real-time equipment location and status and receive reporting and analytics. The program will integrate with existing reporting and management systems, according to the company.
