The City of Longview, Texas, has proposed a plan that would overhaul its trash collection and recycling programs. The City’s plan would replace its current fleet of refuse trucks with vehicles capable of side-arm cart collection. This would allow the City reduce the current number of refuse trucks operating each day from 12 to eight.

In addition, the proposal would give all residential customers a free 95-gallon cart for recycling and a free 95-gallon cart for trash. The new recycling cars are designed to increase the City’s recycling rate.
