Results for the 2026 Model Year Police Vehicle Evaluation have been released by the Michigan State Police (MSP) Vehicle Team.
The 2026MY vehicles tested include:

Chevrolet Police Silverado Z7X 4WD
Chevrolet Police Silverado Z71 4WD
Dodge Durango 5.7L AWD

MSP also tested the BMW R 1300 RT-P, Harley Davidson Road Glide, and Honda NT1100 Police.
The MSP, which has been testing police vehicles annually since the 1950s and motorcycles since 2004, conducts vehicle evaluation testing to recommend suitable vehicles for public agencies based on their operational needs.

Gotta Go Fast
One of the most important aspects of vehicle speed and acceleration is how quickly a vehicle can accelerate from zero to any speed.
Let’s jump into how the vehicles tested this year fared in the acceleration challenge.
The Ford Mustang Mach-E GT eAWD maxed out the charts, going 0-60 in 4.03 seconds and a top speed of 124 mph, followed by the Ford F-150 Police Responder 3.5L EcoBoost 4WD in 5.68 seconds, and the Ford Police Interceptor Utility 3.0L EcoBoost AWD in 5.95 seconds.
Acceleration from 0-80 mph achieved the same results, with the three fastest unchanged.

However, from 0-100 mph, the Mach-E remained in the top spot while the Police Interceptor and the F-150 traded places, with the Police Utility Interceptor reaching 100 mph in 13.87 seconds and the F-150 in 14.14 seconds.
Top speed, however, tells a different story. Coming in at the top spot was the Ford Police Interceptor Utility 3.0L EcoBoost AWD with a top speed of 148 mph. Coming in second were the Ford Police Interceptor Utility 3.3L Hybrid AWD and Ford Police Interceptor Utility 3.3L AWD with a top speed of 136 mph.
Third place was also a tie, with a top speed of 130 mph achieved by the Chevrolet Tahoe 5.3L RWD, the Chevrolet Blazer EV AWD, and the Dodge Durango 5.7 AWD.
Among the motorcycles tested, the BMW R 1300 RT-P had the fastest top speed at 141 mph, followed by the Harley Davidson Road Glide and the Honda NT1100 Police, maxing out at 119 mph.

Stopping Power and Dynamics
When it came to the braking systems, the Chevrolet models had the most consistent and shortest stopping distances, with the exception of the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT eAWD.
The Mach-E GT eAWD had a stopping distance of 122.45 ft, the Chevrolet Police Tahoe 5.3L AWD had a stopping distance of 130.19 ft, and the Chevrolet Police Blazer EV AWD had a stopping distance of 131.70 ft.

Dynamic testing awarded the Ford Police Interceptor Utility 3.0L EcoBoost AWD with the fastest average lap time at 1:35:39.
The Chevrolet Police Tahoe 5.3L RWD came in second with an average lap time of 1:38:09, followed by the Dodge Durango 5.7L AWD with an average time of 1:38:30, and the Ford Police Interceptor Utility 3.3L AWD with a time of 1:39:19.
Among the battery electric vehicle group, the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT eAWD achieved the fastest lap speed, completing the course in 1:38:04 and maintaining an average end battery charge of 61.6%.
The Chevrolet Police Blazer EV AWD achieved an average lap speed of 1:39:50 and an average end battery charge of 69.5%.
