LYT has signed a partnership with Whelen Engineering to integrate its NextGen emergency preemption solution, LYT.emergency, with the Whelen Cloud Platform (WCP).
The partnership is meant to help cities and communities safely deploy faster emergency response vehicles for incidents and accidents.
Giving Emergency Vehicles Priority at Intersections
The LYT.emergency solution enables traffic signals to adjust, based on real-time congestion, traffic in advance of approaching emergency vehicles.
The Whelen Cloud Platform connects public safety and emergency fleets with the civilian and responder vehicles around them while also continually updating firmware in a cloud-based communication network dedicated to road safety.
Together, LYT and Whelen enable police, fire, EMS and other fleets to deploy preemption capabilities in the vehicles, making emergency response and roadways safer throughout communities.
“This new partnership with LYT is another example of Whelen’s dedication to increasing safety for first responders and everyone on the road,” said Burak Unalmiser, Head of Strategic Cloud Partnerships for Whelen. “We never stop looking for ways to expand the safety features offered through the Whelen Cloud Platform, so we are extremely excited about bringing LYT’s emergency preemption capabilities to our userbase.”
LYT’s intelligent connected traffic technology solutions are designed to create safe and innovative mobility systems and services for smart cities, according to a news release.
LYT.emergency grants a consistent and reliable green light for every emergency vehicle.
How LYT.emergency Works
The solution harnesses the power of a single secure edge device installed in Traffic Management Centers that enables emergency vehicles to speak directly to networked traffic signals in cities through the LYT.speed cloud platform.
“Crisis situations demand swift and effective responses, and with Whelen’s partnership our combined cloud-based, AI-powered emergency preemption technology allows us to safeguard communities nationwide,” LYT CEO and Founder Tim Menard said. “By leveraging the capabilities of artificial intelligence and the scalability of cloud computing, we can anticipate, mitigate, and respond to emergencies with unprecedented speed and precision. This innovative partnership not only enhances public safety but also underscores our commitment to harnessing cutting-edge technology for the betterment of society to build safer, more resilient communities for generations to come."
