The City of Baltimore, Maryland, plans to spend nearly $41 million for new police helicopters and patrol vehicles.

On December 22, the city’s Board of Estimates approved $18 million for three helicopters to replace the Baltimore Police Department’s aging aviation fleet.

The board also allocated $23 million for an unspecified number of Ford hybrid and non-hybrid pursuit utility vehicles. This is reportedly a 400% increase in funding for the police department, as the board approved an initial award of $5.7 million in January.
