The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office in Louisiana has broken ground on a new 14,000-square-foot fleet services building, the Sheriff’s Office announced. It is located next to other Sheriff’s facilities and is the final phase of relocating the Sheriff’s Office facilities into one space.

The building will include office space, a mechanic shop, a car wash, and a garage. Inmate labor is used to service the units, and the new facility will be used to teach inmates mechanic and electrical skills that could help them after release.

The $2.5 million facilities is already completely paid for from savings made throughout the department, according to the release.
