Ptl. David Layne, a 17-year veteran of the Avon, Ohio Police Department, was shocked and grateful to be the winning recipient of a prize package from Government Fleet Magazine’s sister publication Police Magazine. He was notified of his winning in early August.
The crown jewel of the package was a Recon Police Power Bike fitted with an electric motor, lithium ion battery, and LCD control. It has a heavy-duty frame and is equipped with 4" Kendra Puncture resistant tires. It is capable of speeds up to 30 MPH, and has a range of 50 miles depending on use.
“I was stunned and humbled to receive the prize, since I have never won anything prior to this. I originally thought fellow officers were playing a trick on me,” Layne said.
The package also included the following:
- RECON: Commando eBike
- Mocean: Jacket, shorts, polo, pants, and vest carrier
- Police Bike Store: C3Sports MaxPatrol-600 DLX light
- IPMBA: 2021 Conference Registration
- Gargoyles: Squell, Thin Blue Line series eyewear
