Highway Products Inc. of White City, Oregon has introduced its custom Strongback Fire Body for brush and wilderness area firefighting trucks. According to the company, the marine-grade aluminum bed is built for easy vehicle maneuverability and operation in tough-to-reach areas and difficult terrain that is inaccessible with larger fire trucks. The field-tested units feature a frame made of 6-inch structural T6 extruded aluminum C-channel side rails, 4-inch long sills and cross members on 12-inch centers.
Highway Products builds these units for GMC, Chevy, Ford, Dodge, Freightliner, International or other brand trucks. The stated it also works with the National Fire Fighter Corporation to build these units to fit individual needs.
