The Green Bay (Wis.) Police Department is retiring 10 of its non-emergency vehicles. Due to budget constraints, these vehicles are often kept longer than they should and some of the vehicles even have rusted out floorboards, according to the Green Bay Press Gazette.

Of the department's 115-vehicle fleet, squad cars make up the majority. Because of their high use, the department tries to replace a third of these vehicles every year. Unfortunately, that means that when budget cuts arise, the agency reduces non-emergency vehicles. These vehicles are generally used by detectives and school resource officers.

The department received $52,000 from Green Bay City Council. It will also use an additional $92,000 from its emergency fund to purchase the replacement vehicles.
