Utah University Unveils EV Chargers, Prius PHEVs
Utah Valley University (UVU) and the state Governor’s Office of Energy Development have unveiled two electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and two newly purchased Toyota Prius plug-in hybrid electric vehicles on the university's Orem campus, according to a UVU release.

Utah Valley University (UVU) and the state Governor’s Office of Energy Development have unveiled two electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and two newly purchased Toyota Prius plug-in hybrid electric vehicles on the university's Orem campus, according to a UVU release.
This project was funded through a series of grants from the Office of Energy Development, the Utah Clean Air Partnership, and the Utah Division of Air Quality.
The two grant-supported Toyota Prius vehicles will displace more emissions-intensive vehicles on UVU’s fleet, and one of the two charging stations will be dedicated to the university’s fleet, according to the UVU release. The other charging station will be located in the Visitor Lot at UVU’s main entrance, right off Interstate 15’s Exit 269. Charging at this station will be available to the public for free.
The new charging stations provide guests and fleet vehicles with up to 240 volts of alternating current charging capacity, UVU said. All charging will be recorded through cloud services for UVU and the Office of Energy Development to track station usage.
