The California State University, Chico, Facilities Management and Services department is enlisting new help to keep its streets clean. And it's entirely electric.
The college's new electric street sweeper is the first of its kind in the 23-campus California State University system. The D.Zero2 street sweeper from Dulevo International will clean the campus grounds, collect and mulch leaves, and provide overall maintenance, according to a release from Chico State.
The new unit will save an average of 475 gallons of diesel fuel the old street sweeper used per year. It will also provide an annual reduction of 860 lbs. of carbon dioxide.
