Univ. Fleet Upgrades Patrol Car Tech with DOJ Grant

The University of Colorado, Colorado Springs officers will be able to get more work done in patrol cars thanks to grant funding from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).
After receiving more than $18,000 in grant funding from the DOJ’s Bureau of Justice Assistance, the university’s Department of Public Safety was able to purchase seven refurbished Panasonic Toughbooks with software that allowed officers to remotely view cameras and monitor units on campus.
The department saved 60% by purchasing refurbished computers, enough to upfit the whole fleet, according to a release from the university.
