The Tulsa (Okla.) Police Department has unveiled a new police vehicle design, replacing a vehicle design that had been in use for 26 years, the department announced on Facebook.
“The vehicle embodies the City of Tulsa and its rich history with an emphasis on One Tulsa and Strength Through Service,” the PD posted on Facebook.
In addition to these mottos, the vehicle features the Tulsa flag, "911" framed by the Route 66 logo, the city’s downtown skyline, and the U.S. flag.
In a video, Chief Wendell Franklin emphasized details that make the vehicle visible to citizens: reflective tape on the rear of the vehicle, a car number identifying each officer on the back and hood of each car, increased “Police” font-size lettering that is also reflective, and an inverse “Police” text on the hood so drivers can easily identify the lettering in their rearview mirrors.
The new vehicle design and graphics package comes at no additional cost to taxpayers. It will be added to all new police vehicles as they are added to the fleet.
