The Fort Bend County (Texas) Sheriff's Office will be allowed to retain 16 of its vehicles, instead of having to shelve and replace them after a certain amount of miles or years of service. That's in addition to 16 new vehicles being added to its fleet.

The Fort Bend County Commissioners Court approved a request to increase the fleet size as the ongoing supply chain crisis continues. The request was also made because of a larger amount of enforcement personnel working field operations. The Sheriff's Office recently purchased 16 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe models that will be added to the fleet.

This will allow the current pool of vehicles to be available as back-ups in case any of the newer ones are down for repairs, according to the request.
