City of Clarksville, Tennessee, Mayor Joe Pitts has named Billy Lee as its new fleet manager. Lee served as interim fleet manager and garage manager while a search for a new department head was conducted. His appointment is effective May 17.
Lee joined the city as garage manager in April 2018 after working at local car dealerships in retail sales and in service departments. Randy Reese, the city’s fleet manager since the position was created in 2015, retired from the position in May 2020.
The fleet manager coordinates and supervises the Fleet Maintenance Department, which provides preventive maintenance and repair service for approximately 2,000 pieces of city equipment, ranging from vehicles to lawn equipment. Fleet management uses software to track and provide monthly reports on maintenance schedules, vehicle repairs, and other vehicle expenses such as tires and fuel, as well as keeping parts inventories.
