State of Missouri DOT Receives 2008 Honda Environmental Leadership Award
JEFFERSON CITY, MO – The State of Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has received the 2008 Honda Environmental Leadership Award from American Honda Motors and the National Conference of State Fleet Administrators (NCSFA).
JEFFERSON CITY, MO – The State of Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has received the 2008 Honda Environmental Leadership Award from American Honda Motors and the National Conference of State Fleet Administrators (NCSFA).
Fleet Manager Jeannie Wilson and her team’s progressive push to implement alternative fuels statewide for its agency vehicles earned them top recognition and appreciation from the industry and their peers in their efforts to preserve the environment.
MoDOT’s accomplishments are:
· More than 45 percent of the diesel fuel purchased by MODOT in FY ’07 was B-20.
· Published best-practices paper on implementing biodiesel with assistance from researchers at the Missouri University of Science and Technology.
· Published a performance study on alternative fuel (E-85) Performance/Economics/Quality/Usage with assistance from TranSystems.
· Impressive metrics and statistics for alternative fuel.
· Total gallons of E-85 (ethanol) consumed: Fiscal Year 2006: 35,520, Fiscal Year 2007: 66,218, and Fiscal Year 2008: 138,452.
· Total gallons of B-20 (biodiesel) consumed: Fiscal Year 2006: 2,826,740, Fiscal Year 2007: 2,919,918 and, Fiscal Year 2008: 2,364,289.
· Earned $453,898 of Biodiesel Tax Credits in the amount.
· Expanded E-85 bulk sites from two to seven facilities in the last three years.
· Sole public entity that participated in a pilot study testing Hybrid Aerial Trucks.
· Received a grant to acquire three hybrid trucks.
