Raleigh, N.C., to Convert 30 Additional Police Vehicles to Propane Autogas

The City of Raleigh, N.C., is converting an additional 30 police vehicles to operate on propane autogas, according to a City document. The City began its conversion process in 2010 and used two grants to convert a number of police vehicles to operate on propane autogas.
Due to the program’s success, the City issued an RFP for the conversion of vehicles and installation of fuel storage and infrastructure for servicing the City’s propane autogas-fueled vehicles. Blossman Gas Inc. submitted the sole response to the RFP, according to the document, and the City plans to move ahead with the conversion process.
Funding required is $195,000 for the overall proposal and the per-vehicle conversion cost is $6,500, according to the document.
The City also worked with Alliance Autogas to convert 10 Ford Crown Victoria police vehicles in 2011.
