Police Chief Arrested for Asking Wife to Drive Patrol Car
The police chief of the Village of French Settlement, La., was arrested and charged with malfeasance in office for allowing his wife to drive a marked patrol car even though she has a suspended license.

The police chief of the Village of French Settlement, La., was arrested and charged with malfeasance in office for allowing his wife to drive a marked patrol car even though she has a suspended license, the Livingston Parish Sheriff announced.
Harry Brignac and his wife Tammy drove to pick up a police vehicle that was getting serviced to bring it back to the police department. She drove the patrol vehicle back. The Livingston Sheriff’s Office received a tip and arrested her, charging her with driving with a suspended license and resisting an officer.
The police chief then told law enforcement and local media that he had asked his wife to drive the unit. Because he admitted that he knowingly instructed his wife to drive while he was ordered by the courts to not operate a vehicle, the Sheriff’s Office arrested and charged him with malfeasance in office.
Brignac was released from jail on bond.
This is Brignac’s second arrest this year — this summer, he was arrested and charged for using a fleet fuel card for personal use.
Brignac has been the police chief for more than 30 years, overseeing two officers. He does not plan to resign from office, The Advocate reported.
